START A
COMMUNITY GARDEN
Grassroots Gardens WNY is proud to facilitate and support the creation of new community and school gardens in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. In order to start a new garden through our
network, you must have a minimum of 5 committed community members for 5 years willing to care for the garden. Grassroots supports groups in accessing vacant lots in their neighborhood to get growing.
Our application for the 2023 season is now open! We will consider community and school gardens located only in the cities of Buffalo or Niagara Falls, NY. Once an application is completed and returned to us, our Gardeners' Committee and staff review it. This is a competitive process as our budget is only able to maintain so many gardens a year. Priority is given to gardens in neighborhoods lacking grocery stores and other access to healthy food without another community garden nearby.
The application is linked to the buttons below. Be sure to also read our Lead Gardener Commitment and return that form linked below. The Policies document linked below will answer many questions you may have. Call our office at any time if you need assistance at 716-783-9653.
If you want to join a currently established garden, visit our Join A Garden page to learn more on how to get growing this season.
