START A COMMUNITY GARDEN

Grassroots Gardens WNY is proud to facilitate and support the creation of new community and school gardens in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. In order to start a new garden through our

network, you must have a minimum of 5 committed community members for 5 years willing to care for the garden, and have identified a private lot with landowner consent or a publicly-owned city lot.

Our application for the 2024 season is now CLOSED. Please check back in September 2024 to apply for the following year.

Application documents are made available via the links below for reference purposes.

We are currently only considering community gardens located in the cities of Buffalo or Niagara Falls, NY, though if you are a school in one of our nearby suburbs, we may be able to support you in 2025. Once an application is completed and returned to us, our Gardeners' Committee and staff review it.  Priority is given to gardens in neighborhoods lacking grocery stores, green spaces, and other access to healthy food.

The application is linked to the buttons below, and can be returned via email or physical mail.  The Policies document linked below will answer many questions you may have.  Call our office at any time if you need assistance at 716-783-9653.
