Grassroots Gardens WNY is awarded support for Community Gardens through the AstraZeneca US ACT on Health Equity 2025 Community Solutions Challenge

Grassroots Gardens WNY has received support from AstraZeneca US through its 2025 Accelerate Change Together (ACT) on Health Equity: Community Solutions Challenge for community garden and school garden material support.

From soil to seedlings, community and school gardens in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Kenmore need a wide variety of supplies to ensure a healthy growing environment for nutritious food and strong communities. This grant by AstraZeneca US’s ACT on Health Equity covers significant supply needs for Grassroots Gardens WNY’s 117-garden network.

As part of ACT on Health Equity, AstraZeneca US is working to improve access, affordability, and outcomes for all people in the disease areas and communities they serve. This contribution stems from AstraZeneca’s US commitment to advance health equity and foster a healthy society and people by focusing on eliminating disparities in care. The grant will make an immediate impact on community gardens in Western New York. Funds will be used to provide clean organic soil and compost, seedlings, gardening tools, and other community needs for Grassroots Gardens WNY’s network.

Through ACT on Health Equity, AstraZeneca US has provided $18 million in contributions to over 160 nonprofit organizations across the country that are dedicated to advancing health equity through the support of community-based nonprofit programming that prioritize the social, cultural and linguistic needs of communities that have experienced barriers to care and opportunity.
