The Foundry, in partnership with the Stanley G. Falk School, celebrated a Community Giving Ceremony on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Broadway Community Garden. Throughout the year, the students studied metalworking and applied their skills to build custom garden bed brackets and weeding tools for Grassroots Gardens WNY.
“There’s nothing quite like the look on a student’s face when they see something they made out in the neighborhood. It completely changes how they view their own work.” said Drew Brotz, FOUNDRYmade Manager. “It’s not just a project, it’s proof that the skills they’ve built in our makerspaces are real and that what they do actually matters to the community.”
This donation is a continuation of the partnership between The Foundry and Grassroots Gardens WNY. Last year, students designed tall trellises that were distributed to community gardens across our network.
A second community giving ceremony is planned for June 9, 2026 at The Foundry, where students from OLV Human Services will gift handmade projects to local organizations. These projects include dog houses for the SPCA serving Erie County, NY; nightlights for Beds for Buffalo with The Service Collaborative of WNY; and garden supplies for Grassroots Gardens WNY. This celebration is free and open to the public.
