Grassroots Gardens WNY Executive Director Tim Chen joined Buffalo Toronto Public Media’s What’s Next? for their December 1, 2025 episode.
BTPM’s Jay Moran hosted the program, entitled “Gardens, Pride, and the Power of Local Leadership.” The discussion focused on the expansion of Grassroots Gardens WNY’s school garden network, now serving 35 local schools. The conversation shifted toward the benefits felt by students and communities learning within community gardens, as well as the challenges faced by leaders and organizations navigating federal funding cuts.
The episode’s second segment featured Niagara Pride leaders Ron Pia Chesney and Sherry Fossett.
This is the second appearance of Grassroots Gardens WNY on BTPM’s What’s Next? In 2024, GGWNY was featured in an hour-long episode about community development and environmental equity. Listen to the 2024 interview here.
