COMMUNITY GARDENING

Our community gardens are generally open to the public, and for all ages! We have over 70 in neighborhoods throughout Buffalo and Niagara Falls. All of our member gardens are independently managed by partner organizations, block clubs or neighborhood associations. Each garden decides how it grows together. Some gardens use a shared decision-making model and others provide beds for individuals or families to grow in. Grassroots Gardens may not charge fees for access to a garden or its affiliated spaces.  To locate a community garden near you, visit the Where We Grow page or contact our office at 716-783-9653. To learn more about our Garden Policies, please click here.

Many of our gardeners are new to community gardening. We welcome people of all backgrounds, skills, and abilities. Our program strives to be accessible and inclusive to all. Translators and American Sign Language interpreters can be provided at no charge for community events or gardener support.

In addition to providing technical assistance on site when requested, we assist our gardeners in securing funding, materials, tools, and more. We also provide troubleshooting and consulting for garden-related issues such as growing problems, pest issues, or harvesting questions. Our Community Garden Resource Center at 389 Broadway Street in Buffalo is open by appointment for tool rental and pickup.
