On one occasion, when their van was not available. They traveled on foot, by train, and by bus to come from Canisius College to the garden.
Enjoying the fruits of our labor at the end of each gardening session makes for great social interaction. How rewarding it is to see folks trying organic vegetables they’ve never seen before, and discovering they love them!
The garden at Herman Badillo creates unity and understanding of our community by demonstrating how the students and staff can work together to transform an empty space into a productive learning environment. It serves as an outdoor classroom for a variety of subjects, as well as provides a setting in which students' leadership roles may flourish. Additionally, it is a unique space to cultivate student's curiosity, physical activity, and joy of exploration.
